Description

We offer a 5 1/2 foot chain that comes with a bright polymer coating that covers 4 feet of the chain, making it an ideal choice for swing sets. The chain is made of 3/16” Grade 30 4/O Aught steel, ensuring its strength and durability. The links on this chain are 1 inch long and 1/2 inch wide, making them compatible with our H140 – H145 5/16″ S-hooks. Additionally, our H170 – H173 shackles can be used with this chain, although they may require some force to pass through the coated part of the chain.

It is essential to note that chain sourced from non-playground manufacturers may not possess quality control and may include weak links or air bubbles. Therefore, purchasing from us ensures that you receive high-quality, reliable equipment. Our chains are sold individually, providing you with the flexibility to customize your equipment as required.

IMPORTANT: Please read for important information. In this material we have tried to provide some requirements stated in the CPSC Handbooks, ASTM F2373-11, F1487-11 and F1148-09. However, we in no way intend for this to be a complete list of requirements. Also these publications are updated frequently with changes therefore, you should read these publications yourself to determine if any part or installation could prove a danger to a child.

To help keep children safe from harm, review installation and maintenance instructions before installing equipment. These are located in the description of every product on our website. Download and print these instructions and keep in a safe place. Our website also has a “Product Testing Information” page. All products are tested for lead, phthalates and tensile strength. You can also call us at 1-800-227-7529 for more information or see http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/pubs/325.pdf.

Installation: Our parts are sold as either replacement parts or components of a set, unless you are buying our Metal Frame Set, therefore these parts need to be installed according to the sets installation instructions. If the installation instructions differ from ours please contact us at 800-227-7529.

Chain should always be attached using the last link in length of chain. Assembly will depend upon use. Coated section should be used where children are most likely to hold. For instance on a swing assembly, the coated section should be attached to the swing. Fasteners may need to be forced through the polymer. If coating is too thick for fastener to slide through easily, you may have to use pliers to pull fastener through the coating or cut away some of the coating for the fastener to fit through link.  Close according to Fig. A.19 for Fastening Devices.

Maintenance: Do the following to reduce the chance of serious injuries. At beginning and end of each play season and once a month during play season, check for rusty or worn chain.  Carefully check hole around fastener to look for wear. Check for vandalism. Check to see that polymer has not been peeled away from chain resulting in sharp pieces of either chain or polymer. Replace parts if necessary. Check to make sure S-hooks and/ or H-shackles are closed properly. Maintain detailed inspection and maintenance records for public-use playground equipment.

Any damage from vandalism, abuse or misuse VOIDS all warranties.
