Description
Please go to the Resources page for photos on how to install chain to swing hangers and a detailed list of parts.
This set is very heavy duty. Each bay is designed for two children up to 12 years old, per ASTM and CPSC guidelines. If installed according to installation instructions, our sets will more than meet these requirements.
Actual weight limits depend upon how the set is installed, the amount of concrete, the type of dirt in which the set is installed, how much use, etc. Therefore, we do not state weight limits for our swing sets.
The Light Use Frame is 50″ wide at the top and at the bottom it is 7’ wide above ground. It is 7½’ tall and 8’ from front leg to back leg above ground. This is an above ground set and is not for regular swinging. You need to swing between the A frame. It includes a crossbeam for extra support. The frame weighs only 60 lbs. It also comes with stakes so that it can be placed on grass or dirt surfaces. Optional feet are available for inside use to help prevent floors from marring. Ships UPS. This product should last 2 years in harsh conditions and up to 5 years in optimal conditions. Some conditions may require replacement sooner. FEET are sold separately.
PARTS INCLUDED ARE:
EFP – End Frame Parts (94) / Cpipe – Crossbar Pipes 3’3″ (2) / Lpipe – Pipe for Legs 8’6″ Long (4) / Tpipe – Pipe for Top Rail 4’2″ Long (1)
The new CPSC standard states the owner/operator of the swing set needs to post warning signs outside the use zone that are readily visible to the intended viewer and alert them to the potential hazard in time to take appropriate action. This message may be on either a sign or label outside the use zone. Signs should state “This swing set is for children 5-12 years old only for standard swing seats. Not for Adults. Adults should supervise children at all times. Do not allow children to stand on or use unsafely. Do not allow set to be used if damaged. Remove helmets, drawstrings or accessories around the neck which are all known to create head entrapment or entanglement hazards. Where applicable, hot play surfaces are known to reach temperatures high enough to cause serious burns to children generally less than 4 years of age. Must have adequate surfacing under swing sets to prevent injury from falls.”
Specifications for all warning signs or labels should conform to ANSI Z535.1 and ANSI Z535.1 or ANSI Z535.1 in the following areas: legibility, type of lettering, clarity of message and symbol, color specifications and work message and visibility. The labels or signs should be durable and conform to UL 969. It has been and continues to be the responsibility of the owner/operator to replace signs or labels or both should they become illegible, destroyed or removed.
IMPORTANT: To keep children safe from harm, follow these precautions and instructions when installing, using, or maintaining this playground equipment. You can also call us at 1-800-227-7529 for more information or see http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/pubs/324.pdf.
Installation: Our parts are sold as either replacement parts or components of a set, unless you are buying our Metal Frame Set, therefore these parts need to be installed according to the sets installation instructions. If the installation instructions differ from ours please contact us at 800-227-7529.
Lay out all the pieces on the ground. Arrange them the way they will eventually connect as the finished assembly, approximately, two to three feet from where the set will set into the ground. You should have your holes dug 2 ft deep to place in the galvanized pipe legs. Be sure to cement them in well before letting your children play.
Slide the 2 triangular pressings onto the top bar. Do not secure yet. Bolt end pressings to top bar using bolts and locknuts. With top bar upside down, bolt legs to end pressings using bolts, washers, locknuts. Stand frame on its legs and bolt on crossbars with bolts, washers and locknuts. Push end caps onto crossbars. Position triangular pressings to take swing accessory and secure with U bolt, rubber strip, washers and locknuts. Tighten locknuts as pressings must not move. Suspend equipment from triangular pressings using cap square bolts, flanged bushes and locknuts. Do not over tighten. Bolt stakes to end of legs using bolts, washers and locknuts. Tighten all nuts.
If using S-hooks you will need to make sure the S-hooks are closed to within .04 to meet ASTM safety standards. To do this you will need to use our S-hook pliers or a regular pair of channel lock pliers. Close according to Fig A1.19 for Fastening Devices. WARNING: Once the S-hooks have been opened they will have to be replaced to avoid injuries from coming open and/or breaking. Make sure that the shackles used are tightened and if you use the shackle swing hangers for the chain that these also are tightened. Inspect regularly or use Loctite® to make sure bolt is still tight.
Maintenance: Do the following to reduce the chance of serious injuries. Check monthly for cracks, rust, missing rivets, open S-hooks or evidence of vandalism such as cutting, metal showing through the material or bent seats from children standing on them. Tighten and lubricate all metallic moving parts per manufacturer’s instructions. Check all protective coverings on nuts, bolts, pipes, edges, corners and all moving parts including swing hangers, swing seats, ropes, cables, chains and shackles. Replace as needed. Make sure there are no exposed footings, anchoring devices, rocks, roots, holes or any other obstacles in or around playground equipment. In high use areas these inspections should be done more frequently. Clean with mild soap and water when you do the monthly maintenance checks.
Any damage from vandalism, abuse or misuse VOIDS all warranties.
