Description

Our play equipment features a sturdy residential half-bucket swing seat that comes with an attached black nylon webbed safety strap and galvanized hardware. Measuring 12 inches in diameter and 8.5 inches in depth, the seat is designed with back holes that are 5.5 inches in length. To ensure maximum safety and durability, we use galvanized steel triangles and steel plates that are riveted to the seat with galvanized rivets. What sets our swings apart is the fact that we weld each triangle together, making it impossible to pull apart or off the seat. Our triangles are constructed of 3/8 inch diameter cold-rolled steel with the ends welded together, while the plate is made of 1/16 inch thick HR stamped galvanized steel. The rivets used to attach the plate through the EPDM rubber and steel insert are made of 1/4 inch diameter steel, with three rivets on each side of the seat.

We take pride in the quality of our products and believe that our swings are among the few that have these welded triangles, ensuring their long-lasting performance. Under optimal conditions, our play equipment seats can last up to five years, while in harsh conditions, they should last for at least two years. However, certain conditions may require replacement sooner. Our half-bucket swing seats have a tensile strength of 1200 lbs, providing a safe and secure experience for children while they play.

Colors: Blue, Green, Red, and Yellow

This seat is for children 2 and 3 years old only. This swing is intended for use by only one child at a time. Children should be placed in swing and removed from swing by an Adult. Do not remove children until the swing has stopped completely. Adults should supervise children at all times. Do not allow children to stand or kneel on seat or use unsafely. Do not allow it to be used if damaged. Do not use when wet. Instruct children not to wrap chains around top beam or twist chains. Tell children to watch for children and adults standing, walking or running close to moving swings and to stop swinging to avoid hitting them and causing injury. Tell children to hold chains tightly in each hand while swinging.

*C128, C129, C130, and C131 require using an H140, H145, H170S, or H160 at both the top and bottom parts of the chain.

To connect the S166 to an 8′ frame it is recommended to have a 4′ length of chain to ensure proper spacing below the swing seat and the safety surfacing below. As the height of the swing frame increases the 4′ length of chain should increase proportionately i.e. a 10′ high frame should have a length of chain of 6′ for the S166.

IMPORTANT: Please read for important information. In this material we have tried to provide some requirements stated in the CPSC Handbooks, ASTM F2373-11, F1487-11 and F1148-09. However, we in no way intend for this to be a complete list of requirements. Also these publications are updated frequently with changes, therefore, you should read these publications yourself to determine if any part or installation could prove a danger to a child.

To help keep children safe from harm, review installation and maintenance instructions before installing equipment. These are located in the description of every product on our website. Download and print these instructions and keep in a safe place. Our website also has a “Product Testing Information” page. All products are tested for lead, phthalates and tensile strength. You can also call us at 1-800-227-7529 for more information or see http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/pubs/325.pdf.

Installation: Our parts are sold as either replacement parts or components of a set, unless you are buying our Metal Frame Set, therefore these parts need to be installed according to the sets installation instructions. If the installation instructions differ from ours please contact us at 800-227-7529.

This swing is intended for toddler two and three years old for RESIDENTIAL USE ONLY. Read all instructions before attempting assembly. To determine proper use zones needed for swing set consult spacing dimensions on Page 4 of the Outdoor Home Playground Safety Handbook. Install swing set where a child can easily be supervised. Do not install playground equipment over concrete, asphalt, or any other hard surface. A fall onto a hard surface can result in serious injury to the equipment user. Grass and dirt are not considered protective surfacing because wear and environmental factors can reduce their shock absorbing effectiveness. Carpeting and thin mats are generally not adequate protective surfacing. Install your play equipment on level ground with adequate surfacing and anchoring. Use proper hardware, and tighten all connections.

Place tire swings and disk swings in separate bays, away from other swinging equipment. Space swings at least as far apart as indicated: 8 inches minimum for swings with limited sideways motion; 24 inches minimum between swings with unlimited lateral motion (such as disk swings) and support poles when measured from the side of the swing perpendicular to the plane formed by the support poles; 12 inches minimum between lawn swings and equipment support poles measured at 28 inches above the seat; 16 inches minimum between the teeter-totter’s seat center and support poles at 22 inches above the seating surface; 8 inches minimum between the protective surfacing and the underside of a suspended unit. The use zone for the swing should extend to the front and rear of the swing set, a minimum of twice the vertical distance from the top of the occupant’s sitting surface to the pivot point of the swing hanger. The use zone in front of and behind swings should never overlap with any other use zone. The use zone to the sides of a single-axis swing should extend a minimum of 6 feet from the perimeter of the swing. This 6-foot zone may overlap that of an adjacent swing structure or other playground equipment structure.

The open section of swing seat should face forward. Make sure restraint system does not pose a strangulation hazard. To attach swing to set, measure each side of swing chain, so the swing hangs evenly. Attach the bottom of each chain to the metal triangle on swing seat with either a shackle or S-hook. The bolt on shackle goes through the chain with “C” part of shackle going through triangular hardware on swing seat. Close according to Figure A1.19 for Fastening Devices. Make sure that fasteners are strong enough to support weight and use.   We suggest using a H170 shackle or 5/16” diameter standard S-hooks to connect chain to seat. WARNING: Once the S-hooks have been opened they will have to be replaced to avoid injuries from coming open and/or breaking. Try swinging seat without child in it first to make sure everything is working correctly before placing child in seat.

Protective surfacing that meets ASTM F1292 must be installed under swing set and extends at least six feet from the sides of the set and twice the height of the top bar in the front and back of swing set. Protective surfacing is one of the most important things that you can do to reduce the likelihood of serious injuries.

The new CPSC standard states the owner/operator of the swing set needs to post warning signs outside the use zone that are readily visible to the intended viewer and alert them to the potential hazard in time to take appropriate action. This message may be on either a sign or label outside the use zone. Signs should be posted that state the appropriate age group for the swing set. Not for Adults. Adults should supervise children at all times. Do not allow children to stand on or use unsafely. Do not allow set to be used if damaged. Remove helmets, drawstrings or accessories around the neck which are all known to create head entrapment or entanglement hazards. Where applicable, Hot play surfaces are known to reach temperatures high enough to cause serious burns to children generally less than 4 years of age.

Specifications for all warning signs or labels should conform to ANSI Z535.1 and ANSI Z535.1 or ANSI Z535.1 in the following areas: legibility, type of lettering, clarity of message and symbol, color specifications and work message and visibility. The labels or signs should be durable and conform to UL 969. It has been and continues to be the responsibility of the owner/operator to replace signs or labels or both should they become illegible, destroyed or removed.

Maintenance: At beginning and end of each play season and once a month during play season, check for sharp edges on hardware and/or cracks in plastic. Check for vandalism. Make sure restraint system is still installed correctly. Check for rusty or worn chain. Replace parts if necessary. Check to make sure S-hooks and/ or Shackles are closed properly. Check resilient surfacing for appropriate depth and cleanliness. If you see wear on a swing, replace all swings purchased at the same time. Remove swings from set when temperature reaches zero or over 100°.

Any damage from vandalism, abuse or misuse VOIDS all warranties.
