Description

The S190 Swing seat is designed to be accessible for physically challenged children and meets ADA, CPSC, and ASTM safety standards. It is rotationally molded for exceptional strength and offers added support with wider sides, larger armrests, and a larger footrest. The swing chains are adjustable to allow for different reclining positions and the swing is designed with a yoke and locking system that meets safety standards for head entrapment.

For further support, an optional removable harness is available but does not meet ASTM and CPSC standards for head entrapment, which is why the yoke system is used. Do not leave the harness on the swing seat unattended. Jensen assumes no liability for injuries caused by the optional harness.

Swinging has been found to aid in sensory integration therapy and improve fine motor skills, balance, touch, body awareness, eye contact, speech skills, and socialization. The S190 Swing is made of durable rotational molded plastic and all hardware, except for the attaching chain, is stainless steel to prevent rust. It comes with a stainless steel H shackle and wrench for attaching a separate chain, and the chain length needed depends on the height of the swing frame and desired seat recline. See installation and maintenance section on this page for reference. The swing seat is designed to be safe, comfortable, and accessible for all children.

Comes with a wrench to operate the clevis shackle.

Colors: Black, Blue, Green, Red and Yellow. All swings come with a Yellow Yoke.

This seat is designed for use by children ages 5 to 12 only. The seat is to be used by one child at a time with a weight limit of 125lbs. Do not allow children to stand on the seat. Adult supervision is required at all times. Inspect the swing for proper installation and signs of damage/wear prior to use. If signs of vandalism or excessive wear is found, do not use the swing. Do not adjust the seat reclining position when in use. If you require further information, please do not hesitate to contact us at 1-800-227-7529. As always, if there are any questions or concerns regarding the use of this swing for a particular individual, contact their doctor for more information.

Please read and follow the precautions and instructions prior to installing, using, or maintaining the playground equipment. You can also call us at 1-800-227-7529 for more information, or go to http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/pubs/325.pdf.

For harness installation watch video below.

Although plastic may become as hot as metal, plastic has better insulation properties and does not transfer heat as quickly. This is due to the thermodynamic and lower heat transfer properties of plastic, making it the preferred choice for playground equipment over metal. The Consumer Product Safety Commission CPSC recommends plastic slides and surfaces in lieu of bare metal. In extreme temperatures and direct sunlight, plastic can still become hot enough to cause burns. For safety, parents and guardians alike must be present while the children are using the equipment at all times. Check playground surfaces and equipment for excessive heat prior to use. For more information, contact IPEMA headquarters at communications@ipema.org or by calling 1-717-238-1744.

Installation: Verify that the warning label is visible prior to installation. Additional warning labels are available for purchase, and information for these warning labels are included with your packing list. The seat is to be 18” off the ground to meet ASTM standards. Each seat comes installed with a V-chain that is 8’4″ long for an 8’ frame height. For different frame heights, the top chain may be replaced with a longer chain. Please see chart below for more details A tamper-proof stainless steel shackle H171 and special wrench H175 are included and can be relocated on the chain for adjustment of the reclining position of the seat. As per ASTM standards, the hangers must be spaced 30” from the end of the swing frame, and 24” apart for each swing on the frame. If you are not using shackle pendulum swing hangers, you will need to order two 2 S-hooks or two 2 additional H172 shackles to attach the swing chain to the hanger. To replace the V-chain, a 8’ 4″ length of chain is required.  The shackles must be attached at a specific position to meet safety standards, and it depends on which style of chain you use.  If you replace the old chain with C120, you will install the shackle on the 46th chain link counting from the back of the seat to top connection “v”.  If you replace the old chain with C100SD, you will install the shackle on the 36th link counting from the back of the seat to top connection “v”.

Chain that is needed but must be ordered separately:

Frame Height Chain Length Amount of Chains required
10′ 2′ 2
12′ 4′ 2
14′ 6′ 2

The S190 comes ready for an 8’ frame.

WARNING: Once an S-hook has been installed, they cannot be reopened/reused, and they will require replacement to avoid equipment failure and possible injury. S-hooks need to be closed within .04 to meet ASTM Safety Standards. This can be accomplished with our S-Hook Channel Lock Pliers T100 or a regular pair of channel locks.

Maintenance: A monthly inspection/maintenance schedule is suggested to minimize the chance of injury. Check for cracks, rust, sharp edges, open S-hooks or shackles, worn harness straps, chains and eyebolts. Replace any worn, damaged or vandalized parts as needed. Check for exposed footings, anchoring devices, rocks, roots, holes and any other obstacles in or around the playground equipment. In high traffic areas, inspections should be performed more frequently. Cleaning the swing can be accomplished with mild soap and water. If you have multiple swings and wear is found on one swing, it is recommended to replace the worn parts on all swings that were purchased at the same time. Remove the swings from the playground when temperatures are below 0°F or above 100°F. A detailed record for all inspections and maintenance of the playground equipment is suggested to reduce the risk of injury.
